What you are buying

A one-time license for Rubiyomi on macOS 14 or later (2023 and later), Apple Silicon.

Price: $11.99 one-time. Promotional pricing may appear at checkout while a sale is running.

Promise: Buy once. Lifetime updates on the channel you purchased (Direct DMG updates or Mac App Store updates).

Includes the Rubiyomi Peek app and optional AI when you enable it (rate-limited; not unlimited hosted AI).

Direct (rubiyomi.com)

  • After checkout you see your license key on the success page and receive it by email.
  • The DMG is always downloadable; the Direct app requires a valid license and an available seat to run.
  • One license covers up to 3 Macs. If all seats are used, sign out another Mac from the activation screen.
  • Online verification refreshes a 7-day offline grace. Rubiyomi re-checks whenever the Mac is online.

Mac App Store

  • Your Apple ID purchase unlocks Rubiyomi. There is no pasteable Rubiyomi license key and no Rubiyomi seat limit.
  • A listing is planned as a second channel at the same pricing; until it is live, buy on rubiyomi.com.

What Rubiyomi is

A menu-bar reading companion for Japanese on screen, especially in games. It is not a language course, flashcard system, chatbot, or game mod.

Accuracy and compatibility

  • Text recognition can be wrong.
  • Readings, meanings, and optional AI can be wrong.
  • Game and fullscreen compatibility varies.

Optional AI

Ordinary peeks stay on your Mac. Optional AI is off by default.

If you turn on Allow optional AI in Settings → AI, Use AI, Use AI by default, and online Speak call Rubiyomi’s servers, which may send text or the selected crop for processing. Rubiyomi does not ask for an OpenAI API key. Usage is rate-limited.

Proof is your Direct license key or a Mac App Store purchase.

Your responsibilities

  • Grant Screen Recording if you want Peek to work.
  • Use Rubiyomi only with software and content you are allowed to capture.
  • Keep Rubiyomi updated through the channel provided at purchase.

Privacy

See Privacy. Ordinary peeks stay on your Mac. Optional AI sends text or a crop only when you use it. There is no Rubiyomi customer account.

What is not included

  • A customer OpenAI API key, or unlimited hosted AI
  • Rubiyomi accounts, cloud sync, or cross-device history
  • iOS, Windows, or Intel Mac builds
  • A guaranteed support SLA

Refunds

Refundable within 48 hours of purchase by emailing support@rubiyomi.com (support outreach required). After 48 hours, refunds are at Rubiyomi’s discretion.

Changes

Purchasers receive the terms shown at purchase time.
