First peek

1. Open Rubiyomi from the menu bar.
2. Press ⌥Space.
3. Allow Screen Recording when macOS asks.
4. Draw a tight rectangle around the Japanese.

Buttons

• Meaning reveals a short English meaning when available locally, or via optional AI if you added a key.
• Breakdown shows short word notes.
• Speak reads Japanese with a voice on your Mac.

Offline

The core Peek works offline: capture, OCR, readings, basic word help, and pronunciation. The local dictionary is curated, so every phrase will not have a local English translation.

If Peek fails

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording and turn on Rubiyomi, then try again. For a bad reading, try a tighter selection or Retry with AI (sends only the rectangle you drew).

Optional OpenAI key

Not required for ordinary peeks. Add one in Settings → AI & Privacy for fuller explanations or difficult OCR recovery.
